I have been to concerts and events around the country for decades and cannot recall a more frustrating experience than this one at AmFam. It was my first show here and I have no interest in ever going back. The traffic and parking were a complete disaster. I’ve never found a venue with as little signage into parking areas. We were shuttled in a lane into general parking that was barricaded. We came around the other direction and were forced by a traffic attendant to keep moving past the entrance to general parking and into premium. Perhaps things would have moved faster if guests like ourselves didn’t need 3 tries to get in the lot. It was all I heard walking in and as everyone got settled in their seats - lots of shaking heads and anger about arriving after the opening acts started because of the traffic issues. As we approached the entrance, the poor experience continued. The lines for security had no signs on where to go if you had a bag (and I thought the entrance info said no bags except clear bags - there were definitely bags coming in). As a result, the security lines were terrible - people were jumping back from the “no bag” lane into everyone else’s lanes making all of the lines move slowly. It was total chaos. I knew the dome would be closed which seemed like a good decision for weather … but a terrible decision for sound. It was impossible to hear a word from the opening acts. All you could hear was the reverberation from the bands. The sound team seemed to figure it out when MW came out and his sound was better … but nowhere near what an open-air venue would have provided. I’ve seen shows in other arenas without dramatically better sound quality. It was also very hot by the end of the show which is seemingly something they could have managed better with the dome closed. The exit from the parking lot was only slightly better than the arrival. We got to our car quickly but the lines to exit built immediately. It took 40 minutes to exit the lot - once out, we were on the highway quickly. Truly a poor fan experience.
